Well I've heard skunks do like eggs. That might be the culprit...as far as the coffee grounds go, never heard of that. I don't put eggs in my compost, but coffee grounds are rich in nitrogen & I even sprinkle them right out in the open -- under plants & tres & have never had a problem.

And my neighborhood has a BIG skunk problem. They're everywhere here. So...personally I wouldn't give up the coffee grounds. They are virtually composted when you lay them out & plants love them.

Hi Paul,

Sorry about your luck - it was bound to run out sooner or later. I'm glad Scrappy's ok and that the recipe seemed to do the trick on him. For the house, I would suggest that you pick up some screen fabric, cut it to size, staple it to your window frames, and leave all the windows open. Hopefully it won't take too long to disburse!

Hey Cathy;

Thanks for the recipe... it came in handy tonight!! Scrappy got hit good, right in the face.

I happened to have some HP in my medical kit, so it was easy to make up the brew. The mixture seemed to take most of the smell away, off the dog, but the skunk went under my house... and now the whole house smells like a freshly cut rotten onion. Any suggestions?

Thanks again,
