In the past, my little boy was only interested in un-decorating the Christmas tree. This year however, he has been very excited about putting ornaments on the tree. It started with the Christmas tree at school (daycare), all of the little people were given the opportunity to put on one ornament. The excitement carried over to decorating at home. Monday was a snow day, so my little monkey and I spent some quality time together digging through Christmas decorations. What turned out to be the most fun, was watching him decorate his own tree.
I found a small artificial seedling that I’ve had for many years and told Connor that it could be his Christmas tree. That was all the encouragement he needed. With a delighted grin, he got right down to business.
This is his finished masterpiece.
Didn’t he do an excellent job!
If you are looking for something fun to do on a snow day, I can highly recommend this decorating activity. Small children love to be involved and always want to help. Letting them decorate their own Christmas tree is a terrific project. They can make their own ornaments or use some of your less delicate / unbreakable ornaments. Those busy little hands will be put to creative use and your little boy or girl will be very proud of his/her accomplishment!
