See that cute little gal over on the left sidebar - the one who’s all decked out and ready for working in the garden? I designed her myself at designhergals.com. Yup, I picked everything out for her from the fashionable rubber boots on her feet to the style and color of the hair on her head. Design-Her Gals is an interactive online company that allows users to create their virtual likeness and produce it on an assortment of stationery and gift items. Registration is free and you can design and save up to 9 different gals and send as many ecards as you like, also for free. Any of the gals you design can be saved in the print shop for ordering and printing by the gals at Design-Her Gals.
The Shop at Design-Her Gals contains a wide variety of items that you can have your designs printed on. One of the stationery items you can have your gal printed on is a list pad. I purchased a package of four.
The gal printed on my list pads is pretty much the same as the one on my blog except she’s holding gardening gloves and gardener’s hand tools in her one hand instead of herbs. Not only was I able to design my gal, I was also able to customize the text that is printed at the top of the pad. My list pads say “Garden Resolutions 2008″.
This service is not just for designing gals - you have the ability to design guys and kids too. There is a seemingly endless array of clothes, footwear, pets and accessories to choose from when designing your virtual person. I went with a gardening theme for my gal, but you can choose clothing and accessories suitable for many different hobbies or occupations such as medical, construction, sports, education, shopping, cooking, scrapbooking…the list goes on and on.
Although it’s a little tough to see, in addition to the hat and sunglasses my blog gal is wearing, she’s also sporting a pink ribbon - the international symbol of breast cancer awareness. Designhergals.com was founded by Jeanne Fitzmaurice for the purpose of raising funds and awareness for Stage IV breast cancer patients. Jeanne also founded the Gal to Gal Foundation, a non-profit charity where 100% of the resources go to Stage IV breast cancer patients and their families.
You may have heard about the virtual walk. The first virtual walk across America was launched by the Gal to Gal Foundation on October 1, 2007. Thousands of virtual walkers walked from Boston to San Francisco. Together they raised more than $100,000.
