Help, I’m being held hostage by the latest winter storm warning! Just sitting around is so not in my nature (unless it’s sitting on the stool in front of my computer). My house is clean - relatively, the laundry is done - mostly, the dishes - in the dishwasher, my little boy - at his dad’s, so what’s a girl to do? I’m not quite ready to break out of my igloo, strap on the snowshoes and head to grocery store - I’ll do that later. And TV is an absolute last resort! This could well be the opportunity I’ve been waiting for to do something a little artsy.
Shady Gardener posted recently about a commissioned pen and ink sketch she had done for a friend. It reminded me about how much I used to love sketching. Once upon a time, before my favorite little whoozit grew and became mister active, I tried my hand at lots of different art mediums. Mostly for experimental purposes and just to see if I could do it, I took a photograph of two pears and then recreated them in oil on canvas. I liked the painting well enough to hang it on the wall. Yes, that’s it shown above. It looks much better in person - come on over and I’ll show you!
I also monkeyed around with pencil sketches and water colors.
For some reason I didn’t like the watercolors as much. Perhaps a little more practice would help.
It is decided - today will be an artsy kind of day. Thank you Shady Gardener for providing me with the inspiration to do something fun while waiting out the storm!
