Two days ago I could see the tops of some of the bulbs I planted in the fall peaking out of the earth. It was in a small patch of the garden that had been exposed by mild temperatures. The drip, drip, drip from the eaves was like music to my ears. Imagine my excitement! I even called my mom in Florida and she got excited. Like Shady Gardener in her comment on Searching For Signs of Spring over at Mr. McGregor’s Daughter, I too was all geared up to begin my daily garden tours. Then, the inevitable happened! Another winter storm warning followed by another dumping of snow. The exposed patch is once again covered in a blanket of white. I hope you’re okay in there little bulbs. With about two feet of snow covering the majority of the yard and gardens, front, sides and in back of the house, my excitement may have been a little premature. Ever the optimist, my eager anticipation of spring remains. So far things are looking good today. The sun is strongly shining, the temperature is a ‘balmy’ -2 degrees Celcius (about 28 degrees Fahrenheit), and the day is still young!
