Cathy, I just left you a reply in my comments, then thought "oops, you might not come back to see it." Rather than try to repeat it here, I will direct you back to my blog. I haven't yet figured out how best to direct an ongoing dialog like this...what do you think?

Don't be surprised if a random mullion is still in bloom next month. I can never bear to pull them out after they stop blooming, because those long stalks of little round seedheads catch the autumn light and look like burnished bronze beads. As a result, I have them scattered all over the place.

Jennifer,

Great to meet you too! I stopped over for an introduction to your garden - your sunflowers are gorgeous.

Carol,

I like that there's always something in bloom. Haven't quite mastered the technique of picking and planting items that will begin blooming as others die off. Timing is everything in the garden, but as we all know, it also involves a certain amount of luck.

Shady,

That little speedwell seems fairly happy so far. The true test will be seeing if it survives over the winter. Have you tried Veronica?

Thank you so much for the nomination. You're such a sweetheart!

Cathy, you have included such a nice variety of plants! I cannot seem to get Speedwell to appreciate being in my gardens! Oh, well.

I've nominated you for a little award. You'll have to stop over to see it! ;-)

Long-blooming perennials are important to a garden... they add some consistent bloom as other flowers pop in and out.

This visit was fun because I have some of the same plants you do (I'm zone 6a) and it's interesting to compare. I actually dug out my spiderwort because they bored me after mid-July and my shasta daisys peaked a month ago. I LOVE that porcelain vine and will have to look for that in the nurseries. Good to "meet" you and your garden.
